Aish students as living ambassadors
Yeshiva and seminary students are assigned to specific soldiers, learning Torah and praying in their memory year-round. At the garden, they greet visitors personally, share stories, and create real human moments of meaning.

What exactly is the Garden of Heroes?

In the German Hospice compound in the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem's Old City — adjacent to the primary stairway and the new Western Wall elevator. Every visitor walking to the Kotel passes this exact site.
How many people will see it?
More than 10 million people enter the Old City each year, and over 4 million pass this exact spot on their way to the Western Wall. No other memorial in Jerusalem commands this level of foot traffic and sacred association.
What makes it a 'living' memorial rather than a monument?
Visitors are invited to recite a prayer or learn a short Torah passage in the merit of a fallen soldier. Through the Memorial App, people worldwide can select a soldier, learn their story, and dedicate learning or prayer in their memory. A live counter on the digital screen tracks prayers recited and passages learned, so each hero accumulates hundreds of ongoing acts of merit long after a gift is made.
What will be built inside the garden?

How are the fallen heroes chosen and honored?
Every fallen soldier and member of the security forces since October 7, 2023 will be remembered. Individual plaques carry their photo and details, while the digital screen rotates their profiles and stories so their legacies can be passed on forever.
What are the giving levels?
Gifts range from $1,800 (Team) to $2.5M (Lead, with exclusive naming rights), with Pillar ($1M), Gold ($360K), Silver ($100K), Bronze ($25K), Friend ($10K) and Patron ($5K) levels in between. Each level carries defined, permanent recognition and a strictly limited number of spots.
What recognition does a Lead donor receive?
The garden itself will be named for your family or honorees. The name appears on the main entrance signs outside and inside the garden, above the main arch opening onto the Western Wall, on the digital board, and in learning, promotional and online materials.
Is there a benefit to giving early?
Yes. Every donor who joins before April 2027 will be recognized as a Founding Patron — part of the inner circle who made the project possible.
Is the project government funded?
No. The Garden of Heroes is privately funded with zero reliance on government support, and admission will always be free.
How is the garden maintained after it is built?
Ongoing operations are supported by donor gifts and by visitors to the garden, many of whom make a small contribution when they come to pray or learn in the merit of the fallen.
When will the Garden open?
Design work runs through 2026, donor commitments through spring 2027, construction from May 2027, with a ribbon-cutting planned for May 9, 2028.
